The Research Analyst Regulations were introduced by SEBI in 2014 to lay out a framework of bias-free research analysts.
As at the end of Dec 2022, there are close to 1000 registered research analysts (RAs) – individuals and entities.
In recent times, the Research Analyst Regulations became popular for two reasons:
- Orders passed against SEBI registered RAs
- As a way out of the enhanced compliance requirements for investment advisers
