With the SEBI (Portfolio Managers) Regulations, 2026 scheduled to come into effect from 1 April 2027, the regulatory landscape is set to evolve. The revised framework expands investment avenues and introduces the Portfolio Managers Route for Investing in Mutual Fund Units (PRIM), creating a dedicated route for portfolio managers offering mutual fund-based portfolio management, subject to applicable conditions. These changes are relevant both to existing portfolio managers preparing for the transition and to new applicants evaluating their business model.
